Re: In Search Of: 463 front left black seat belt 1994-2000

Starting with the mid-90's the front retractors have a pyrotechnic charge for pretensioning the seatbelt. The ones shown on the orange background don't have those.

Re: Roof Load Capacity

Some background on the 200kg limit: This isn't an arbitrary value. MB publishes approach/breakover/departure and side hill specs for all Gs. They vary a bit between models. IIRC, these numbers are with the vehicle loaded with the maximum permissible payload, including the 200kg on the roof. Do any o...

Re: Roof Load Capacity

Max roof load on a LWB is 200kg. That will really make it tippy though.

Any hardware store will sell you a spool of the tape. Cut them to size with some scissors you are willing to sacrifice.

Re: My LWB w460 300GD 1982 renovation

I am drawing a design for a pop-up roof right now. Plan is to laminate off the original roof shape with Carbon + Hemp fiber laminate. Trickiest part is the frame / support around the new roof opening. To make a good water proof design. Not sure about the mechanism yet. Might use hinges in the front...

Re: Karl’s shelf

Maybe there has been a change, but I was able to flip the rear seats with the sleeping platform in place. IIRC, the trick was to partially fold the seat back, then lift up the bottom until the hinge passes the platform lip. Then fold and tumble as usual. It was important for me because most of my to...

Go for the CampTop. You won't regret it. It only adds 10 kilos to the roof and you can stand up inside your G.

Re: Wanted- SWB Rear Bumper & G500 Rear Tire Mount

The triangle part usually takes a bend. I just put it into a vice and "fixed" it. Ditch the cover and use the savings to install Karl's storage insert. Definitely worth it for being able to carry wet/oily/smelly stuff on the outside.

Re: Wanted- SWB Rear Bumper & G500 Rear Tire Mount

Any of the pre-MBUSA and earlier MBUSA bumpers will do. I wound up getting one with backup sensors in it. Not wanting fill the holes or to spring for the MB parts to finish the system, I turned to eBay and found a fully functional system that I glued into the existing sensor holders. $15, IRRC. Indi...
