Re: Axle refresh

If just the swipe seals, and the bearings are tight, just install split swipe seals. 5% of the work, 95% of the results.

Re: Air in Fuel Lines.

The shutoff valve is missing, my notes say A0219977548. Also, take a look at what the factory plastic fuel lines cost. They come with o-rings in place. Looking at this from a standard parts perspective: 1x 2.5mm x 12mm ID – Shutoff Valve http://www.mcmaster.com/#9263K236 9x 2.5mm x 8mm ID - Fuel Lin...

Re: Air in Fuel Lines.

The lines come off by pushing in the white tab. Similar action on the metal ones. Then gently hook the o-rings out of the slots. There are o-rings everywhere, the shutoff valve is the one that people miss the most often. Two T30 Torx bolts get it off of the IP. Twist a bit and pull.

Re: Viscous "Fan Blade" Free

Make sure it is what you want. That is for the M110.
IIRC, the diesel and gas engine fans rotate in opposite directions. Please correct me if wrong.

Re: W463 electrical gurus: seat, door lock actuator, and mirror issues.

Some of the MB convenience modules will forget the mechanical limits and then act just like this. Try running the seat all the way forward and continuing to hold the button for 10 seconds. Our E300 needed this done yearly.

Re: Preferred Lubricants Sticky

My notes say:
Front 1.4L
Rear 1.8L
Xfer 2.8L
Shaft center zerk fitting, 2-3 pumps max.
Shaft end fittings, until old stuff is pushed out.
Axle balls, fill until up to the opening. I find it hard to get them all that full because the grease doesn't flow away from the opening that well.

Re: Diff Fluid and Grease

Some previous owner replaced those with zerk fittings. Works great.

Re: Kingpin bearing replacement disaster...

To measure the shims you need a special part that centers the shaft in the housing. Could be self made on a lathe or 3d printer.

Re: Torque Values & Torque Wrench Recommendations

Maybe. However, I've broken an IM bolt at 15nm. No leaks either.

Also the head is soft aluminum. Be very gentle with the threads. When I had the opportunity, I helicoiled the lot of them, intake and exhaust.
(Yes, I've calibrated my torque wrenches).
