Re: Squirrelly Steering / Handling

There is no need to blindly throw parts at this problem. Check each part and a dust or replace as neccessary. Squeeze the tie rod ends. If they squeeze more than 2mm, MB says to replace. The box is easy to eyeball for looseness.

Re: Muffler end location

I haven't experienced that, but it is a bit louder. I think the loudness is partially due to the shorter exhaust system and also the exit being closer to your ear.

1) Many of the lines are clear. Are all of them completely full of fuel? The one going from the fuel thermostat to the coarse fuel filter can have a 1~2cm bubble in it. The rest have to be bubble free. 2) Does it use the original smart key, or has the DAS system been disabled? If the key isn't recog...

Re: Front diff lock won’t bleed?

For me, it sealed right up without any sealant. I had to scrape 20+ years of accumulated crud from the region to prevent stuff from falling into the joint as I was wriggling it into position.

Re: Front diff lock won’t bleed?

That system is quite strange. It seems to build up internal glop very quickly. The brakes which use the same fluid, and the exact same flex hose parts don't have this problem.

Re: Front diff lock won’t bleed?

Work your way back in the system until fluid comes out. First the rubber hose part, then the union at the pressure intensifier. IIRC, there is a valve internal to the intensifier, that could be jammed, cycling it under pressure could get that freed up.

Re: In Search Of: 463 front left black seat belt 1994-2000

Starting with the mid-90's the front retractors have a pyrotechnic charge for pretensioning the seatbelt. The ones shown on the orange background don't have those.
