Re: Roof Load Capacity

Thanks Mog,

Interesting that the documents refer to a suspension type but on my VIN there does not seem to be similar letter number combination. Other than apparently Degree 1 springs.

Looks like I should put on 4 load bars. Can add more later if needed.

Re: Roof Load Capacity

I appreciate this dynamic situation must be considered. Of course this is complicated and would depend on velocity, direction change velocity, tilt of vehicle at time of doing so etc. my dynamics physics course may have to be revisited!! Awareness is an important factor I think so that one conscious...

Re: Roof Load Capacity

Somewhere in my files I have charts to this effect. So I will dig it out. Maybe I should have done so before starting this thread. In any case this is all helpful. So much knowledge and viewpoints all in one place. The internet at its best.

Re: Roof Load Capacity

This is all very interesting, logical and especially useful all in one place. Obviously if you do portals then this is much more serious an issue an explains the much wider stance. I can live with the 200kg load limit.... if none is truly allowed then the vehicle becomes not very useful. I assume th...

Re: Roof Load Capacity

Thanks everyone. cal, why would the load of a RTT well within the payload capacity cause suspension issues? I get how it will raise the CG but if one keeps total payload within spec aside I fail to understand how the RTT loads can be the cause. I may calculate how much it raises the CG. Does anyone ...

Re: GL Mercedes Blutec Question

So without taking anything off except the plastic top cover to try to look at the injector locations. There is a lot of stuff in the way but #1 looked dry but I did notice some gunk around the turbo and on the 1,2,3 side from the engine to turbo. See photo below. Re: GL Mercedes Blutec Question

Ok so why would the exhaust smell differently? Not sure I follow. In any case this engine is I think past early stages. One think I noticed yesterday when I started driving it from a cold start it seemed smoother through the rpm range than it was after warming up. Not sure what if anything one can c...

Re: GL Mercedes Blutec Question

Seems like a reasonable approach.

Going see if this is possible tomorrow. Lots of plastic covers in the way.

Re: GL Mercedes Blutec Question

So I just drove this sick GL. It starts immediately seems to idle smoothly but on gentle acceleration from a stop it is rough as hell until smoothing out at 1800 - 2000. This was only in downtown Calgary so did not exceed 50km/hr. I loosened the oil filler cap and had son in law start it after it wa...
