Re: Europa Air bags

Airbags have a 15 year ‘shelf life’, they may or may not deploy correctly after 20, 30 or 40 years.

Re: BAT No Reserve: 1993 Mercedes-Benz 350GD

I bought a grey market 1984 Mercedes 500SEC coupe in New Mexico 22 years ago (my second car!), it was first imported to California, and had the Sticker in its door jam so registering it in CA again after a few decades out of state was possible.

Re: BAT No Reserve: 1993 Mercedes-Benz 350GD

Of course a few older Gs floating around might have already been been made CARB compliant, these should have a sticker somewhere that looks like this;

Re: BAT No Reserve: 1993 Mercedes-Benz 350GD

They don’t need bi- annual smog testing, but they do need to be CARB certified at a compliance lab at a cost of roughly $10k and the lab might have the G for up to 6 months.

Re: G500 2000 won't be crank :<

See below example of broken tabs, and in the other photo is a used one with intact tabs, but if you lo...

Re: Permanently disabling the steering lock

If you are trying to avoid having to replace the steering lock again, you might want to know that the 2 tabs that engage the electrical ignition switch broke about a week after my steering lock froze up and was disabled with a set screw, leaving my G dead in the water again. So no matter what, this ...

Re: Max tire size on a 1980 300GD?

A 88hp 300GD won’t move under its own power as well with a tire any larger than 30”. Swap a om617 turbo motor into it (~110hp) and you can have a usable vehicle with 31-32” tires without changing axle gears but it will still suffer on any incline. I strongly recommend stay with a 29-30 tire, a clien...

Re: Europa windows issue

Black relay is the transmission output shaft speed sensor amp .

Test your window regulators by unplugging one at the motor and adding 12v to it, if it does not move you likely have 2 dead regulators/motors, if it does you might have wiring issues (rodents?).
