Re: Transmission vacuum modulator question

Assuming you have a 722.3, yes it is a straight part swap but you will need to set the modulating pressure (hydraulic) by connecting a pressure gauge to the test port which is just below the modulator. Need to know which G you have as the pressures vary between models.

Re: Low range drivetrain resistance

The first post says the truck drives totally fine in 2HI, this would indicate that everything is smooth and correctly phased. Probably need more info here, maybe a video would help, to see if something is wrong.

Unless you’re driving on something really slippery, yes it’s normal even on dirt.

Re: Low range drivetrain resistance

Assuming you have everything standard like same size tires and original axles front and rear, I reckon all you’re feeling is ‘drivetrain wind-up’ which is perfectly normal in a 460.

Re: Breathing life into a SWB 240GD

The clutch line has a much bigger bore than brakes or locker hydraulics, it’s more about flow than (the relatively less) pressure. If you use brake line, it will feel hard to press the pedal, then won’t release as fast as you let the pedal up. Don’t remember the clutch line bore, but I think about 8...

Re: Kingpin/trackrod bearing preload - which procedure to follow?

It’s no problem to mix the different method, it’s often easier to get the correct load this way. You can buy the shim washers cheaply made from hardened steel. Search for 19mm or 3/4” shim washers, there’s hundreds around. That way you can use a thick old style four hole shim and then load the beari...
