Re: brake caliper rebuild

I wish it was true that the double brake lines were designed for redundancy. Unfortunately they are inter-connected through the calipers - in other words if one brake line tears, all pressure to that half of the vehicle (either front or back) is lost. My assumption is that double lines were used to ...

Re: Is the juice worth the squeeze to do a 300TD swap for my

Cast iron block & head, non-sleeved. Skirt oilers on 617a (turbo version) only. No mount relocation, just new mounts. Look for any 300D or 300SD from 1980-85. Watch for the newer style glow system and if an '85, avoid the California trap oxidizer (or just remove it).

Most common conversion is to the 617a 5-cylinder turbodiesel. No cutting/welding. Just bolt-on mods. There's lots of info about it here - just search around. Welcome1

Re: LEFT side rear ladder for my barn door G?

Yeah, that's what I had in mind too - straight on the R and bent on the left to match the body at the seam. Saw one once but no idea where it came from. I've got a shop that can make them no problem but cost will be at least $500 I'm sure. Plus powder-coating. Anyone else need one or are there just ...

Re: LEFT side rear ladder for my barn door G?

I'm in the same boat. I may pull off my RH tire carrier and use those mounting points to fab a RH ladder... or make the same mounting points on the L side. Hmmmm...

Not sure I'd be able to prevent the door from hitting it though.

Ideas?

Re: What if your gasser 460/461 could get 20+ MPG

You know, the more I think about it the more I can see benefits in this setup. You could even include an atmospheric compensator so you maintain ideal settings in varying temperatures & elevations. This is why I got into Megasquirts in the first place. If you go this route, please keep us all in...

Re: What if your gasser 460/461 could get 20+ MPG

It's great to dare to say 20+MPG, but having built Megasquirts before I question just how much improvement can be had safely with the M110. It'd be great if it could be done. Seems like MB would have at least done better than 8MPG if they could've.
