Re: Source for 71c thermostat 617a

If you have tested that the thermostat is wide open at 80+C, then the problem lies elsewhere. Perhaps the wrong combination of waterpump and housing? Or simply a waterpump impeller mis-mounted on the shaft. There is generally a spec for the maximum gap between the impeller and the housing. Just to a...

Re: The Final Frontier

Can that spot be reached from outside? If so, some velcro dots would set up a nice replaceable filter system.

Re: Carfax Reporting Oddity--G500s

Sounds like a way to wash away something that sellers really don't want you to see. Maybe they buy totaled vehicles before they get tagged, spirit them out of the country for work, and then back again. Finland sounds better than Mexico.

Re: DOT legality of non US parts

I think rims are supposed to have DOT stamps on them. Someone with a loose MBUSA rim could verify that.

Aren't there enough 18" Ashtaroth wheels in the US already? It was the stock rim.

Re: Purchasing G-Wagen, kind request of help

The electrical component complexity went way up in the 02-03 models. It took MB a while to stomp out all of the bugs in that system. In reality all of the old models should have been fixed up by now. Mechanistically they are all the same.
