Re: A Less Refined G500 Interior

I suppose you could, but you'd need to keep the various switchpacks and HVAC controls. CAN bus vehicles do not take kindly to modification.

Re: Won’t start. After removing hood.

Oh, sorry, misread your original post. There is no motor in that column lock. It could well be that your starter or the ignition switch picked a particularly inauspicious moment to quit. You can hotwire the starter relatively easily. There are only two wires going to it. Put a jumper on the smaller ...

Re: Won’t start. After removing hood.

Re: 2009 G55 AMG Cant pass CA Smog - Catalyst monitor not ready

The hoops that you need to jump through to clear readiness codes can be pretty weird. The STAR system will generally have a helpful comment on how to clear specific codes. On our E300 we had a similar problem with the code not getting cleared despite several different people driving it over a period...

Re: Won’t start. After removing hood.

Those really are ground cables. There should be no problem starting it with the hood up or missing. Do interior lights work? Headlights?
There is a hood switch for the alarm (if you have one) to the passenger side of the cabin air scoop. Might want to hold that down and see if something changes.

Re: My G55k Adventure

Consider these. Good light, neutral white and easily aimable. Can be surface mounted or recessed. They only have a single on/off switch (vs. on/door/off). https://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/led-dome-light-fixtures-non-waterproof/aimable-led-mapdome-light-w-switch/3558/7251/ https://d114hh0cykh...

Re: My G55k Adventure

The rear passenger lights need a focused light source. I had mounted a lenses and cooled 1W LED for that fixture that worked quite well. Don't have it anymore since I replaced the roof and needed a surface mount light.

Re: My G55k Adventure

I found the el-cheapo light panels to be much dimmer than the ones that g-wagonaccessories is selling. Also the color is generally harsh. I probably still have them somewhere, but they might not be worth the shipping.
