When I took out the old alternator the big red wire was on the red post and the other wire was on the yellow. Nothing was attached to the spade please advise for the new alternator

Ignore it. I think that is the AC output used to drive some tachometers.

Copy. The alternator is on UPS truck being delivered soon to a Auto Part store 100 miles away. Local mechanic is going to pick up tonight or in the AM. Crossing fingers.

Sounds like an ordeal. Make sure you carry a spare regulator. Not that it would fix this problem, but it fixes the most common problems

UPS still has it in transit, hence expected delivery Monday. Meanwhile, Duane local mechanic has located a good used one and will be in our hands shortly.

Grab the pulley and twist it violently left and right it should lockup with a clockwise twist and slip at least a little bit in the other. As long as it makes power you are good to go.

Helpful tip: The pulley is mostly there to protect the belt system at idle speed. If your pulley seizes up on a trip you can just keep the RPMs up a little to protect the belt.

We got the alternator at 5:30pm from Duane at https://bc-garage-towing.business.site/

And proceeded to the install. By 6:30pm we had the G running.
