West Coast Fires

I hope all of our west coast members are safe right now. I looked out the windows at work a few hours ago and could tell right away that something was off. I realized right away that the odd overall color of everything was from smoke and not clouds. I was 15km from wildfires in Portugal some years ago and that look of the sky is unmistakable.

I'm saying all of this from the east coast...I can only imagine how bad things must be to for the smoke to have carried this far.

A few days ago I needed the house lights on (at noon) in order to be able to read. It was surreal.

Oregon had the worst air pollution in the world the past few days from the smoke. We could only see 100-200 ft at best.
Lightning expected tomorrow - fingers crossed, but packed and ready to go if we are alerted.
Funny, but the COVID virus looks much less threatening now by comparison.

Sorry Minh, but I'd be overjoyed with 173.
Ours was 596 two days ago, however, it is getting better. We still can't go outside and only N95 masks are good against the micro particles in wildfire smoke which can cause very serious lung infections.

Flanker; I used to look at east coast issues like hurricanes and feel both empathy and relief that we only had big earthquakes here on the West Coast and didn't have to deal with the shocking destruction of your storms.
That has changed and I'm scared because a wildfire can move nearly as fast as the wind and we had gusts of 60 mph a few days ago.
If you try to evacuate when they give the "go" warning the roads will be clogged with other vehicles and it can look like Iraq in 1991 when our warplanes incinerated convoys/cars stopped on a highway.
Not sure I fell better after dumping this, but is sure is on my mind.

Shit rolls down hill bro. You Canucks just need to plant a larger privacy hedge along the border.
