July 11th - Possible trail ride - Uwharrie National Forest

G Fam,

Some of the Toyota Land Cruiser club members are thinking about a trail ride on Saturday, July 11th. I plan to be there if any of you all want to join us. Going to be HOT and fun. :D

I just visited this section of the forum to see if anyone might want to go to Uwharrie. I've never been but looking for somewhere to go with the family. Its about a 3hr drive from home for me. Is this just a day trip or an overnight camping? I'd probably want to camp since that would be a lot of driving to do in one day.

I attended the Uwharrie Safari in 2018. Took my 240GD. Had a blast!
Only problem was that I knocked off my muffler on day 1. The drive back to Atlanta was brutal. Depending on my schedule, I might trailer my Wolf up there for the weekend. It’s just too damned hot to drive long distances with no a/c.
Here are a few pics
Notice the death grip on the last shot. Pretty hairy section of the trail. I was sweating my ass off!

Maybe....
Don’t want to dent it. A lot of the trails are pretty rocky and can beat the crap out of the chassis. Cayenne doesn’t have rock sliders- yet. The Wolf is probably a better choice. Tough decisions in these unsettling times!

Hi Andrew, Thanks for the posting the invite. I would love a uwharrie trip with the Wolf. Will have to do some planning and convince the other half she can live without me for a day!

Hey - you should camp on Friday.

Everyone is welcome. Nothing crazy. The backside of Daniel is the craziest thing and we can always turn around.

The Cayenne can complete the trails however I would not recommend it. My LC has full body armor and still has a dent in every body panel. :<)

10 days to go. I will coordinate with the LC club (non sanctioned) on meet times at El Dorado Outpost.

Also, I have freezing cold AC and will have seats if people need breaks from the heat in the non AC trucks. So far the NC summer has been mild.

Send me specific questions to - roane 3 at g mail dot com - I like to help everyone and have off roaded at Uwharrie for years.

Checking in. Still plan to be at the outpost at 10 am. If anyone is camping overnight on Friday, I could there earlier and we could do some trails prior to meeting group at 10 am.
Check List
All vehicle fluids
Tire gauge - they have free air compressor at Outpost to air up
Recovery strap
Water and snacks and beverages
Frame mounted recovery points
AT or MT tires - lots of rocks

Weather is looking good. Do we have any confirmed G's coming on July 11th?

The meet time at El Dorado is 10 am.
