I'm aware this is not a solution but I remove the glavbox completely and just use extra strong, double-sided tape to attach the glovbox door to the dash. It looks as it is there but no rattling and other annoying sounds. For staff I would put in there use obe of these:

I went this route and built a custom steel box that fits between seats and bolts to where the gun rack went.

Unless I'm mistaken this looks like the plastic one that comes with the car? We're looking for a metal version of the same thing!

Oh! I thought you were looking to have one fabricated because they're hard to find... never mind then.

I don't remember the 460 glove box being this big of a problem

It's just one part of a G that was clearly not built to the high standard of the remainder of the vehicle. That and the plastic is old & brittle by now, so it breaks off the hinges very easily.

Exactly. Would be nice to have a secure box that's not an afterthought especially for the cabrio models.

I think its only the mounting points which are chintzy, the plastic being too thin/small where the screws go into the dashboard. The rest of the glovebox seems fine (although the cover looks cheap)
Perhaps some sort of thin metal strengthening parts to wrap around the edges can be developed which make the front mount stonger.
Its also something which a few of us regularly remove so is prone to fatiguing.
