The way Parker works it would not surprise me but .... it seems like a big task to me. Sure wish I had a garage like he does.

So you know me... I’ve spent the last three days giving the engine compartment and everything you can’t reach with the engine installed a spiritual cleansing. Any hardware that I could not rehabilitate to my satisfaction has been replaced.

Did that by myself... totally not nerve racking at all. Rare sighting of a Southwest Virginia Housecat after coming out to check on me against better judgement. :D

Existing motor mounts looked too tired to me. Was able to order two from my local dealer and had them in a day. All new hardware as mentioned before. The rear transmission mount from the Getrag is only three years old or so.

The one on the left below is old and the one on the right is new... slight tighter design on the metal sleeve with the new mount or my old ones were just way worn.

The new motor mounts are on the new motor now for easier positioning once everything gets dropped back in. That’s the plan at least.

Ready to go after cleansing.

And then... split the Getrag from the 617na and ripped out the old heat shield from the Getrag. Hammered it out and nice and neat and ground it down to roughly 34 mm.

And then... busted out the new SACHS clutch kit. (I haven’t installed any SACHS parts since I worked at a bike shop all through high school...). It was time :D

And lined everything up... input bearing (installed), heat shield, manual fly wheel (automatic flywheel already removed), clutch disc, pressure plate, throwout bearing, input shaft guide tool.

And then... got my input bearing ground down by a local machine shop. I had two of them prepared. Wasn’t cheap but it should work. I guess I have one for the next guy that does a 617a swap.
