► Hutchinson wheel[s] question

After some shopping for a friend I came across a set that I was interested in. But there's a problem. They were being advertised as "WI-0418" rather than a WA or even a WO part number. The only other numbers that I saw were "A375 L1" on said wheels.

Did I stumble into some fake military G class wheels?

Call Hutchinson, they are very nice people and help out with questions or tracking down parts for military wheels.

Hey,

And thank you for the suggestion. One of my other mates actually private messaged me the answer to this old question of mine awhile back.

I swear i'm envious of anyone with Hutchinsons. They're beautifu :) l. My only real questions about them is weither or not they've balancing issues and if it's possible to use blue threadlock on them.

I have close to 10K miles on mine and with two different sets of Cooper tires and they balance well, very little weight and drive smooth (90+MPH) on 35"'s. The nuts on the locking ring are lock nuts, so no need to use any thread locker, that is if you are using genuine studs and nuts from Hutchinson.

Hey,

You've Hutchinsons?! God damn my good man, you've me jealous. If you've any photos of them on your truck I'd love to see them. It's like automotive porn to me. As Aaliyah put it : "it's like adding high-heeled shoes to your truck"

And if you don't have photos that's fine with me. I wanted to thank you for your experience. Addmitingly I was on the fence about getting them or not. Most of my friends over in messages and even over the phone have suggested them having balancing issues. While those with hutchinsons claim the case to-be otherwise. As you can wager I got rather confused.

Thanks to you I may jump the gun and purchase the ones being currently sold by the Canadian military.

My are on my Land Rover Discovery, they are MB wheels that I had adapters custom made. I am ordering another set for my G soon though.

I have two sets of the hutch wheels, one for 463 and one for 460. Both have vibes like hell and were/are hard to balance.

Could be partly tires too, but if you look at the wheel construction, the rubber insert looks like it would be a source of balance problems. They make cool runflat inserts for these, however i might speculate this would compout the balance problem. On my 463 its kinda weird, smooth to 55, shakes to 65, then smooth again.

That's pretty typical - there is a resonant RPM that will depend on exactly how it's out of balance. Things like wheel bearing & king pin condition can also influence the vibes. Road-force balancing make a big difference.

I was going over the post of Leitkreuz and wanted to find out if he eventually purchased the Canadian surplus beadlocks with the WI-0418 designation.
