Door vapor membrane

Does anyone have any photos of replacing theirs on a W460?

I am curious how to do it to accommodate the indent of the front door cards and keeping it watertight.

I think I have PTSD from my leaks at this point

Sorry no photos but using a heavy mil plastic vapor barrier from a building materials store will work. Use 3M double sided tape around the perimeter.

Make sure to spray a good coat of Fluid Film into the bottom of the door cavity. That’s an easy place for water to accumulate.

I agree. Double adhesive tape plus thick plastic. Also and have in mind that a lot of water flows through these door even with new external window rubber seals. When placing the tape. A full seal is needed.

Here is a shot of my 463 last week when I added 90 degree door stops, new door seals and interior door handles. The film is an audio sound deadening, thermal insulation. Heavy and much more money than the plastic but quiet as a tomb. I will incorporate a similar technique on my 460 when the time comes.

The speaker cutout probably should be lined with plastic...

I've seen a few videos on YouTube suggest using 3M Calk to attach a membrane. Any experience with it?

Most of the time these sheets are somewhat removable. How do you remove the dynamat?

I was wondering this too. Just in case a window or lock is not working as it should. I hear that happens occasionally.

If you need help...I usually have extra zip ties and duct tape.

A small bead of anti fungal silicone around the perimeter of the door where the vapour barrier will go and around the perimeter of any cut outs will seal fine.
It's cheap and easy enough to remove if need be.
Double sided tape is porous guys.
That's why the little convex mirrors fall off the big factory mirrors.

But also the double sided tape is a one way street most often. Sits on there for a bit and then rips when removed... I guess you can replace it. I guess no one does. In all the Gs I have purchased so far none of them had this plastic sheet. :?

Haven’t been down that road yet, my initial thoughts were to cut a hole for access and patch with dynamat later. I like the idea of a more robust liner over the disintegrating plastic junk that hides behind most door panels.
