Agreed, for anyone who has no original AC harness, chasing that RPM feature does not make sense, including PNZWGN. As I had to figure out how to feed W463 300GD tach anyway, I now have the signal, harness and module, and that is why I picked MB compressor and bought that up.

For coolant, aluminium core is definitely better but as I wrote, I am not sure about that integrated oil pipe, and only using that. Maybe summa summarum it also comes out top, but 350GD and G300DT all have extra oil coolers and also all later modules have this extra oil cooling brick on engines. At the moment I have not yet figured out a place where to put extra oil coolant on my build if there is aluminium radiator. I will keep those parts, maybe one day I venture into getting OM606 or if something happens with current engine I do not feel like rebuilding OM617 up makes sense. A thing I understand half way in project, just finding parts for this oldie has become bit hard here :(

I checked out another spiral fan I have, unfortunately it has few ribs missing. It came from W460 280GE with A/C. Interesting thing is that fans have part code on them: BEHR 90.413.00.73.7, motor is same BOSCH BOSCH 0 130 111 006.

Currently seems like there is least one place, in amazon.co.uk, where they are in stock, with Hella code 8EW 009 160-121.

http://partinfo.org/behr-9041300737/
If to chase down analogue part codes, some Alfa-Romeo, Peugeot, Volvo full units start to pop up. I am fairly sure that those fans are used in countless Hella units and analogues, motor in others. Sadly there seems to be no public cross-reference library available.

For reference:
Fans are 132mm O.D; 60mm wide outside part; near shaft centre protrudes out 6mm, making whole fan 66mm wide; sits on 8mm shaft.
Motor is 73mm O.D; 8mm diameter shaft; 222mm long shaft; one shaft end extends 48mm out from motor, other looks same without taking it apart.

By looks and those measurements a W124 motor might suit, BOSCH 0 130 111 011 or 0 130 111 012.
But I have not tested it in practice.

Also for my previous long text, a small mishaps. Forgot that I had it actually figured out some time ago. On that original G Mercedes system the full throttle disconnect for compressor clutch has been likely realised way that A/C and automatic transmission kick down module is very same, just on electrical diagrams it is not obvious. Probably because not all vehicles had automatic or A/C. Even on relay module there is nice writing ‘D-Klima Kickdown’, A0015458005.

I think what kafkaonwheels is trying to dig out is a cheaper alternative. Same motor but different price since most G parts have a huge markup.

The w124 Hella/BEHR part is available new at 100 EUR incl. tax for example.

I tried to provide as much info as possible.
Main problem is that all those listed on that site are out of stock.

Getting new part, only option seems to be Mercedes. Official dealer here asks 1137€. Mercteil is 734€.
https://mercteil.com/product/spare-part ... 0008306208

Now this is just a personal opinion but I think even Mercteil price is ridiculous if to really think what you get: a generic electric motor and two pieces of plastic. For example compare what kind of cordless tool that sum buys: likely brushless motor, high capacity Li-Ion battery, gearing and moulding, rugged and for professionals. Or that dealer price here gets new iPhone 11 Pro. But I know it is not so simple, there is economy of scale etc… If I needed that blower myself and I could not find a reliable alternative I would cough up that Mercteil price, and it would not be the most expensive part or with highest markup I have got for my project.

Ed... wow... thank you for the detailed information in your reply. Extremely helpful and appreciated.

I've been out of town for a few days for work and adventure so I've only had time to read your posts once or twice but I will be digging into this deeper. Like now. Can not thank you enough for such thorough information and the time you spared to post it.

Speaking of adventure, I spent the last two days on a clubgwagen W460 Air Conditioning Micro-Treffen in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Had a blast exploring virg461's fatherland along with virg's wife, aircruiser, Max and various specimen of German gun dog.

It was mucho frio...

Got to exercise our low range and locker's on Virg's land. And... swap some parts

I think I've been hanging around here long enough to say that the generosity of Ed, Matt, Virg, etc. are shinning examples of the best of clubg and what this forum is all about.
