It’s a real bummer your outing was interrupted By what seems to be an electrical malfunction.
If I had to guess I would most certainly suspect water getting into electrical connections I don’t know the 7229 transmission which is probably what’s on this truck? but most certainly it’s water intrusion.

Had a similar issue with my brand new 2013 G550 back in the day. The battery kept dying overnight almost every night (no dealership ever figured it out, truck was stock) and whilst visiting friends in Albany NY after driving the thing across the country from California it didn’t want to start nor get out of park to be rolled away. It blocked my friends driveway as a giant paperweight and both were late to work or wherever they needed to get to that morning. My G55 now thankfully has this parking lock thing disabled :)

Was a hardware or software fix? Curious about the details.

Also curious. And any potential field resolution for manually getting the truck out Park for the 13-15 Gs.

I think it's a cut wire by the ignition loom courtesy of previous owner, but don't quote me on it.

Ultimately, you can always crawl underneath and disconnect the rod that goes from the shifter to the transmission. A flat blade screwdriver will do it. Then move the transmission shifter lever manually. If it won't move, you have bigger transmission problems.

I just did that on one of our cars, we drove the rest of the trip using a clothesline to shift out of drive to park and back to drive. The neutral switch would not allow starting even when manually put into park. So we jumped the start relay with a couple wires and spades and wholla she started.
