I did, pretty sure it's been described before somewhere on this forum.

I remember it's pretty straightforward. Eventually pushed out the valve assy with compressed air. Don't forget the circlip of course which holds the valve.

That is one heck of a rusty valve.

Use the Ate / FTE part number and order a brand new one. Price was around 85 EUR incl. VAT instead of MB:s silly price. Its exactly the same part / same manufacturer.

Sorry to say it but I threw away one in far better condition than yours.

Before installing the new valve. Paint it with some 2k epoxy and it will never rust hopefully. You can spray some wax on it when its installed too.

Use the Ate Brakes Online Catalog and choose your G-model / Year. You will find the valve as "Brake Power Regulator".

I went with w460 280GE 1979-1984 and got Ate part no. 03.6513-0340.3

Also check out Textar part number 35002100

When ordering Textar you get FTE / Ate OEM parts.

I didn't see the puc until just yet, but that one looks like it's salvaged from an ocean wreck!

Mine was in much better condition and after checking the MB price I rebuild it.
With Cal's price, it's a worthwhile option to buy a new one and not bother about the old one.

Thanks for the info and part numbers
provided. Was anyone able to order parts directly from the online catalogue or is it just for part numbers? I contacted ate and was told they dont deal directly with customers.

The Ate online catalog is just a way to get the Ate spare part numbers for MB OEM brake, clutch, and some diff lock parts. To be able to order the parts without MB's huge markup.

You have to order it from a spare part store. There are also some offerings on ebay and such if you use the part numbers I gave. I only know spare part stores in Europe because thats where I live.

However, double check the Ate catalog first with the model and year for your own G. The valve should be the same for all w460s as far as I know. But I haven't checked all models.

Textar and A.B.S are also offering this valve. At around 85-90 EUR. I found Ate for 85 EUR at one of the large european online spare part stores. That was a year ago however.

Ofcourse you can order the MB part and pay that price too. Its up to you.
