I have one of these, they allow you to move the VTS winch plate to the back 2" receiver.

Nick’s winch looks more robust (higher winching rating) than the G-Mercedes winch.

Thanks.

Hi there,

Yours is an ex Dutch army 290GD looking at the front bumper, rh front fender etc.
The Dutch army (at least their Air Manoeuvre Brigade) is using a detachable winch mount, which has a similar clamping style as the old Rotzler winch MB used to offer in the early 460 days.

Here's a pic showing a later version one of these winchmounts (there are several winch types and mounts around I noticed, of course all these winches are 24V):

During Corona times I did some designing on such a winch mount design which fits Warn M8000, XD9500 and 9,5XP, see CAD picture below:
10124-01.JPG

As said, it mounts and clamps pretty much the same way as the old MB style Rotzler.

I need to order all the parts for it and see how well it fits, works etc., but if you like it and willing to wait for me to have the design finalized, send me a PM and I'll keep you posted.
More details will follow later.

gr. Bram

Nice work Bram. So, the set up you have shown above does not use the tow pin as an attachment. That is a STOUT looking set up. Looks like it bolts to the frame, right?

Edit: So I peeked at the links that Bram posted (Good stuff, BTW) and it looks like it uses the tow pin in addition to be bolted to the bumper.

The tow pin is used as a locater, and tow pin is still available to be used with winch installed.
It uses kind of c-clamps around the bumper, check out the Rotzler winchframe pictures in one of my links.

It put the bumper mounts and 'Canadian style' towing eyes in the same drawing, to check if nothing interferes with this winchmount. So far all looks good.

Let me know if you need more info.

I use the gmerc pin plate mount mentioned above. Stout good fit and like someone else said can move to front, rear, or leave in the truck when not needed. The mounting holes didnt fit my 24v warn industrial winch so just had a plate mounted. Another reason to leave it off is for max airflow climbing hills and such.

I have the VTS mount along w/ my W461 and W463 front tow pin bumpers so it is convenience to mount the winch on the vehicle of choice. The 2 issues I have with this set up is the tow pin does not tighten down the carrier so the carrier does clack around going over bumps. The other issue, theft deterrent ... easy to pop out the carrier from the bumper ( but heavy! ).

I ve mentioned to Bram to see if he would incorporate into his design to better tighten the carrier to the bumper and to facilitate and allow a couple of “locking” 14x1.5 lug bolts to prevent the pricey winch from flying away when the vehicle is unattended.

Not to be a downer Debbie, but it may be courteous to the seller to move this discussion to the designated Fab section rather than this For Sale posting...
