ie ; alloy centre and steel rim , or all alloy ?
are they tubed or tubeless.

do you have any photos of the inside , or dissembled .
thanks mate .
cheers

I researched these heavily as I wanted to purchase a set before I knew how rare and expensive they were.

They are a tubeless design designed to run with run-flat inserts, but as they are very robust and can withstand gunshots, I believe they are all steel.

They have no ET marking anywhere?! After careful measurement they have a 53mm offset

194mm overall width, 150mm backspace, ET53...?

Best regards,
Duncan

i have never owned a set like this , so i do not know how they look from inside . as i know they are complete made from alloy , thy have beem used on the armored 1979 and 1980 Polizie 280GE .
in 1980 a set of 4 rims cost around 10000 deutsche Mark , which was same price to a new Volkswagen VW Gold MK1 . harald´s website refers them to near 2000,00 - euro for one rim ( so near 8000,00 - euro a set of 4 ) .
i do not know if they are still avail from MB .
from the police they have been driven with a security rubber ring , if you shot a tire , the G was still able to drive 80KM/H on these rubber rings , the armored G weight is estimated 4 tons heavy .

the Gvirus in me started with this amazing 280GE SWB .

Well, I managed to run across such a set and after some negotiating I was able to take them home.

Some informative links:
- Haralds rim overview: this rim is # 12 on his list: http://www.rubicon-trail.com/G-Class/wheels/start.html
- According to EPC, the BBS rim partnumber A3304000302 is still available, but price is on request. However, I got 3304000202 engraved on the center section, maybe the complete assembly is A3304000302 or something?
- Here they still list a price for these wheels: http://www.original-genuine-spare-parts ... benrad.htm

Some pics then. I got a set of five including 5 run flat inserts.
- production date on all of the rims are 12/80 or 01/81.
- production date on the Hutchinson run flat inserts is 04/80 or 1/81. Pretty classic stuff, but in very good shape!
- rim width and size is 5,5J, 16"
- rims are remarkably light. Will put them on a scale soon. The run flat inserts are remarkably heavy on the other hand.
