I researched these heavily as I wanted to purchase a set before I knew how rare and expensive they were.
They are a tubeless design designed to run with run-flat inserts, but as they are very robust and can withstand gunshots, I believe they are all steel.

i have never owned a set like this , so i do not know how they look from inside . as i know they are complete made from alloy , thy have beem used on the armored 1979 and 1980 Polizie 280GE .
in 1980 a set of 4 rims cost around 10000 deutsche Mark , which was same price to a new Volkswagen VW Gold MK1 . harald´s website refers them to near 2000,00 - euro for one rim ( so near 8000,00 - euro a set of 4 ) .
i do not know if they are still avail from MB .
from the police they have been driven with a security rubber ring , if you shot a tire , the G was still able to drive 80KM/H on these rubber rings , the armored G weight is estimated 4 tons heavy .
the Gvirus in me started with this amazing 280GE SWB .
mfg. guido .
