You will hear other opinions here and elsewhere, but considering the low power of the 460's, it is alway good to remember that as diameter increases you loose power rapidly. Personally I would try not to exceed overall tire diameter of 30-31 inches. Moving up from there gains little in height, but reduces power and driveability rapidly.

BF Goodrich A/T are among the best brand of tires for the G.

IMHO

Good luck.

I run 32/11.5-15 BFG All Terrains, previously had mud terrains. I found that the AT's weighed less and the truck felt a bit more peppy than with the muds which were very loud. I would suspect that a 32/11.5-16 would work just fine. Having only driven the G with 32's on it, I couldn't tell you otherwise, but I have no problems getting around in traffic. Here are a few pics I took about 3 weeks ago while deer hunting out at a walnut orchard we have. Mom and Dad are in various pics.

I have 245/75 16 Goodyear MTRs. I'd agree that with the 4.88 gears, 30 - 31 is about as big as I would go ...

You may want to look at the Goodyear off-road tires with Kevlar
that have just recently been added to their model range. Kevlar
is the same bullet-proof material used on police vests and by
incorporating it into the sidewalls, the tire wall stiffness remains
substantial even when you negotiate hard leaning to the side.
The have a very aggresive looking outer edge and I found them to
be even quieter on the open road than my BFG's. Have received
numerous compliments from others on the road with regard to the
masculine look they present as well. The tread design is such that
they can only be mounted with a specific side facing outward.

I recommend BFG All Terrain or MT KM2

Size max on the 460 is 33x11.5x16 which is about a 285/16 in P-metric

shown in pic is 33"x11.5" on 300GD with stock suspension

Mike....with this tire size and on stock 300GD motor and gearing....at what RPM are you when your doing 55 or 60mph and how's the accelleration on start up?

i would say that 460 even in 280 ge form would be best off with the oe size which was;

255x75x15 or the close equivelant 31x10.50x15. power loss is inevitable i reckon.

but in saying that my friend has 33x12.50x15 cooper stt's and he loves them ! he's very happy with power but he has had a full engine overhaul,k&n filter, snorkel, iridium ngk plugs etc..

i also run cooper stt's and they are great. bfg's are an icon tire for sure.

It's all around 7% change in speed/rpm and also torque loss as you gain each inch of tire diameter in this range of diameters (ie: 29-35 inches)
