My 617A has one idiot light sensor that faces toward the front, off the filter housing. I dont have anything under my turbo oil-tube like that pic shows. Maybe I could just use the one Fernando used in place of it?

Hi I also used the dual sensor from VDO on my OM 602 with a T connection to have the idiot light - oil pressure value and temperature. If I remember well the idiot light value on standard sensors is 0.8 bars and the VDO is 0.5 bar .... Or vice versa check the data sheet of the sensor

This VDO Oil Pressure sensor with warn light doesn't need any adapter on OM617. Wich the sensors recommended in this thread does I think? Since they are M10x1.0.

I installed this sender when I did my swap last year. Idiot light works fine. Finally got around to installing a 100 PSI VDO oil pressure gauge today like Vadim posted above.

Got everything hooked up using 14 gauge wire as recommend by VDO, dedicate ground, blah. When I turn the ignition to on needle creeps up ever so slightly. When I actually start the truck the needle pegs at 100 as described above and stays there. After driving for a while/warmed up the needle drops down to about 40 PSI at idle, 80 PSI at bery light throttle and pegged at 100 PSI the rest/majority of the time. I thought read 617a oil pressure while driving was around 50 PSI with relief valve opening at around 102-110 PSI (WOT/heavy engine load.) Thinking I might need a different gauge..?

Pressure depends on oil viscosity, ambient temperature, engine freshness, etc.

Mine stays at 20C at iddle with hot ( 85C- 90C) engine and 80C with cold engine. But if
temps goes really down i do believe you need as 0 - 120C range gauge.
Anyway the warm iddle reference is the most important , i think.

I am going to try an aem 100psi unit, should have it on in a couple weeks. Im hoping to be able to use it for watching oil filter condition, i noticed in my toyota i started losing oil pressure when my filter was a little over a year old. Wonder if Ill be able to use values as indicators, instead of the binary pressure or not that is stock.

To add to Chris' comments about the engine temperature, oil viscosity, engine condition, I would add the age of oil, and outside temperature.
The choice of gauge should be established using Mercedes criteria about oil pressure in the system - a too low scale is a no go - a too high scale lead to miss reading.
adding to that the pressure sensor range must match the pressure gauge - otherwise you end up with miss reading or wrong display...
Reading your post I think the gauge behave as it should and pressure readings are normal but again I am not aware of oil pressure readings for various engine RPM for the OM 617

I have a 250GD with OM602, can either the oil pressure, volt meter, temperature be installed without too many modifications!
