I have a Webasto coolant heater (installed by the previous owner), and it's fantastic, no smoke -25C start ups after 35min running, set it to start up on schedule (it automatically moves to the next schedule once the first run is done, so set it to fire up before work, before lunch, and before home time). Absolute necessity up here IMHO.

When I got my G it had an espar (basically same a webasto) living in the south I rarely used it except when my glow plugs went out and I used the espar to warm up my motor before starting. Worked every time and never needed glow plugs to assist.

I don't normally keep track, but I did for the last two tanks. Mixed city/highway 50/50 (perhaps a bit more city) no off road (my offroading is done during hunting season and in the winter) I averaged 12.7 l/100km's which is 18.5 US MPG correct? Pretty solid for what it is!

How big is the "reserve" tank on a 300GD? Once the light turns on, approximately how many gallons are left?

Metal or plastic tank? The plastic tank with the diesel sender has at least 5 usable gallons in it when the light goes on. I routinely drive 100 miles with the light on, and have hit 130 miles (@20-22mpg). A steep side tilt will slosh the fuel away from the intake sock, so some care is required.

Really? That's great news. I have a plastic tank. The truck is new to me so I haven't gauges how low I can go yet.

What size is the plastic tank? I actually have 3 fuel tanks. Two saddle bag tanks underneath each wheel well and the stock one in the center.
