Door latch adjustments

Can anyone tell me how to adjust the door mechanism? The doors seem to shut fine sometimes and a little harsh others almost like they are hitting metal on metal. Like when you close a seat belt in the door. Also how should I lube the door lacks to make them turn easier?

Happy Chanukah!

Check to see if your door is correctly aligned and the hinges are not a problem. The striker plate can be adjusted to match the latch mechanism. Loosen the mounting screws. Some folks use uberspecial grease on the pin. I like CorrosionX on the latch parts. It is super duper.

Thanks Dai.

I meant lube for the door locks. Like where the key goes.

I've been using CorrosionX for that.
