Oil? How much and Gear box oil

Oil? How much and Gear box oil

I have another 2 questions,
How much engine oil should a 1987 GD300 take?
and what spec?
and what about gearbox oil? is it separate ?
where do I fill it?

I think that engine takes about 7.12 qts but that is what a dipstick is for, and I would use Valvoline 15w40.

If you have a manual tranny than you fill it just like you fill the transfer case and differentials. There are two plugs. One on the bottom of the tranny to drain it and one on the side of the tranny to fill it. To fill, open top plug with the engine off and add oil until is starts to come out. Then close it up and you are good.

Yes, use Diesel 15/40 oil that is diesel rated. I am a fan of Delo and Redline. My GD takes a little above 6 quarts.

Redline makes excellent all synthetic gear oils. MT-90 for the transfer case, D4-ATF for a manual transmission, and 75-90 gear oil for the diffs.
