The vehicle on g-mercedes.com looks like and ex-Austrian military Puch 300GD. There were tons of them for sale in recent years but it looks like they are becoming rare and just a few (4-5) units were auctioned this year.

Anyway check my thread on Europan military Gs here:

viewtopic.php?f=34&t=10506&hilit=vebeg

But do I understand that You want an armoured G?? None of usual military Gs older then 25 years were armoured. Maybe You should look for an ex-Turkish embassy vehicle. Turkey had an factory armoured 300GE or 320GE on every embassy in the world, they were from years 1992-1995, so some of them are already 25 years old. There were plenty of them for sale some 3 or 4 years ago as the Turks changed them for more modern cars but I also haven´t seen one for sale for longer time. Also keep in mind to check if it´s legal to own an armoured vehicle in your state or if it isn´t probibited even by federal law...

FYI: Reference to ex-Turkish embassy vehicle presumably offered on kijiji earlier this year

If I understood comments (including from Lucky!) in that thread, armor is likely a significant negative as 1) performance hit to an already slow vehicle 2) issues delaminated armoured glass.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, the weight could be an issue. I will check the border patrol route as well. Those also seem to be impossoble to find.

I found one and I can probably still get it but it’s the only one I ever saw - mog ran a Vin check on it (see Vin check thread for data card)
The owner was hanging on to it (it was part his collection) and it was going to be expensive, landed in the US over 50K. I had to pass at the since I just wasn’t sure whether I could find an owner for it quick enough.

I was offered a BGS (border patrol) 280GE a few weeks ago, the car was very rusty with holes in the floors and the owner was asking 6000 euro, I offered him 5500 euro but he refused. I also saw a fully restored low mileage car in Germany and they were asking like 40.000 USD.

But neither BGS cars were armoured. Armouring was very rare before the Turkish cars. There was a special version of 280GE SWB called SW3 (460.299) but only like 50 cars were built using many special and super expensive parts which are impossible to soure nowdays...

The one I looked at was in very nice shape. It makes sense.

I'd be interested in the piece that was part of the collection. At a minimum to see what it has and what the ask is.
