Pretty close. As I understand it, the front cross tube angle iron was the attachment point for the crash test tow cable. Because the G passed the test with it welded to the cross member, it became an required element of the federalize G, that's it.
So that begs the question, did MBUSA do additional crash testing for the '02 MBUSA G's or did they ride on the coat heels of Europa's results? If they did the latter, where's the angle iron?
