1989 Mercedes GE200 Cabrio

Interesting one for the folks here (haven’t posted here much since my G55 purchase).

Saw this one come up on the Chicago market and didn’t know what to think of the price. I understand that they are rare, but also pretty significantly unpowered.

Never seen one true but it’s still a 460 cabrio correct? Where s the one which was in pieces for sale somewhere NE? Still think someone should buy and revive that.

One of the rare 200ge’s made for the Italian market. There were also some 463 200ge’s.
Maybe rare but at that price they can have my convertible.

It is still a 460. True so the basis of the market is likely the GE230 cabrio plus a % markup.

This car is average condition not horrid not great

by no means a rare car, and no by no means the only 200GE in USA as we have all seen them come up for sale on eBay and elsewhere in past few years

200GE was made just to get around a tax law not to be special
Paying more for a 200GE vs any other model is nonsense.

I like their little story (on the youtube video) but if they brought it here out of love for it a year ago that's pretty short love, they should keep it or they should have left it in Italy.

In Italy these trucks are 15,000-25,000 euros no problem and with no rust and original paint. Bad economic conditions make it a market worth buying from, along with Spain and Portugal too.

No recaros, booger welds at shock mounts in rear? hard to tell.

Looks like rear headrests lost and strip screwed on top of bench, no soft top, no frame, only hard top....not shown.

mediocre looking quality repaint of a red car, did not repaint some of interior, left it part red, part black?

incorrect trim

looks like fender flares were removed and holes filled,
Earlier fender skirts added to front? I can't recall seeing a late 460 of any type with these early skirts but does anyone have the 460 200GE brochure from Italy?

If he thinks those Scheel seats are comfy Oya vey!

ouch! they suck!

they should try a number like $18k

loved this statement: "1999 G 500 Convertible (not as rare as 200 GE) for €106,000 (France)"
1990 250GD 461.401
2000 G500 463.241
2006 G500 463.249
