California is obviously a horror show for owning anything that might produce pollution.
I have landscape machines that are 8HP with huge tags stuck on the side stating.
"NOT LEGAL FOR SALE IN CALIFORNIA"
My machines are over 6000 miles away from California but that sticker won't stop the exhaust they produce from blowing over there when the wind is right.

I recently purchased a 1981 G form GA. It arrived in the states roughly in 1983. The seller, who purchased the vehicle from the original owners/importers, was unable to acquire the federalization documents, and the stickers have long been worn off. Is there a way to produce the Federalization documents from an agency, DMV or other source? I will have to register this truck in California in the next week so any help on this is greatly appreciated!

Prepare yourself for quite a headache registering that G in CA, Washington or Montana would be far easier places for you to register.

Im not saying it can’t be done, it just may cost an extra ~$9k since a 1981 year vehicle requires CARB compliance in CA now.

I may have to register it as a non op while i save for the CARB costs. I would register in Montana or Washington, but I'm not sure my car loan/lienholder allows it? I'll look into it. I'm hoping I have as good as luck as motoxo.

Motoxo did this before the laws changed.

I'm not a fan of Trump or global warming, but I would like to be able to register my 89 G without having to go through CARB.
