New Recaro install

The 463 gets what the 463 wants, and this time around it was new Recaro seating. I did some seat time in these seats in a friends Syncro Westfalia and I always thought they might work well in a G-wagen.
They're the LXF specialists with grey leather and the arista cloth insert. They came with the recaro sliders that are not even close to what an early 463 has for seat tracks.

I made some adapters that bolt to the factory pedestal and allow the use of the factory Recaro tracks. Pretty easy really, the only hard part was getting the seats centered so the recline knob clears the inside door pillar. I have a pair of arm rests coming for the seats, they were back ordered.

They look great!

I wish MB had kept the sand/beige option for interior color. Starting with my year it went to black or gray only. The tomb-like darkness gets on your nerves after a while.

That is really nice. Funny that is also what I have been looking at on the various Recaro seller's websites, although all fabric as I did not know one could get outer leather and inner fabric. I had a small reservation as to how the grey fabric would look with the grey interior and that answered that.

I wonder if the Recaro seat mount rails on my W460 could be copied to accomodate these in a W463 ?

Would you mind disclosing the source where you purchased ?

Good job !

I actually got to drive around today and get the feel for the seats, so far so good. With the armrests it will be better.

I got mine from Go-westy in Los Osos Ca. He has a few in stock.

I had some SRD Recaro's in my old SW 460, they had super high lower bolsters, which were nice to keep you planted, but difficult to get in and out of. The brackets were similar to the design I fabbed for the 463.
