Thanks, shiann. I have been flipping through your thread. Always helps to put eyes on some more photos. At least that's how I work.

Thanks to all that pitched in on diagnostic systems, and bringing the confidence up that this is a totally DIYer car. Good news - it fits in the garage. Mid grade news - need to move the lift posts closer to allow to grab the frame rails.

I always lift the BMWs on the stock jack points, and rear subframe, even the X5. Nothing that can't be fixed with the hammer drill and some extra anchors.

Seat heaters sounds like they will wait. I have done skinning before; got two other interiors in line for the 745i and the M5, before I tear into this one haha.

Thanks on the thoughts on the seal replacement. Will start investigating soon.

Nice. Be sure that the "drip from the steering box" isn't actually from the PS return hose. They all start to ooze after a while. Really cheap to fix.

Started with that. Fuse 25 seems fine.

I think I will use this thread for documenting this journey.

Just adding some items to the maintenance list, as I go.

Rear heated seats don't come on either. Need to dig in to the circuit schematics, and double check all the fuses again.

P0128 popped up, after we dropped below 30F here in Houston for a day. After that I started monitoring the coolant temps. I suspect a stuck open thermostat. I see values between 80-83C.

That brought a thought to my mind, and you can tell me if that is possible or not. But would the dealer be willing to give me the entire maintenance history of the G? According to Carfax it was always serviced at MB dealers.

Finally, got some time today to look at the power steering drip. Fingers crossed it's the return line. The X5 sprung a nice coolant leak so it took my attention during the week.

Gorgeous truck, yep dealership should be able to run a vehicle master inquiry with any and all services and recalls ever performed by Mercedes. In my case the local dealer will print it off and let me look at it but won’t let me keep it.. YMMV

Thank you, sir!

Similar experience with the last BMW dealer purchase - the guy let me take the print out but told me we are not supposed to do that.

My usual cars are private buys and they would come with 5” thick folders of receipts for work.

PS leak seems to be from return hose line! At least it’s def a problem as it’s all wet.

That’s a good looking truck; congrats!

As few days that we get here in Houston which are truly “cold,” the seat heaters could wait if it were me. You’ll be begging for those cold seats in 6 months!

Nice ride. Enjoy!
