Pics 89' 300GD 606 swap

Just wanted to post some pics of my ongoing 606 swap, this has been a tough one.

I'm very impressed with my mechanic's work on the 606 swap. I used factory 606 engine mounts to make the job easier, so only modification needed was trimming of the intake manifold. We had custom radiator/intercooler built, used an electric fan as space was pretty tight.

35" tires fit easier than I thought, we only had to trim the body mount behind the rear tires - looked like it would hit at full compression. Viking lift springs with bilstein shocks - didn't measure but around 3" lift. My mechanic built a custom drag link as the front axle was off center by about 1" after lift. We also made a custom drop pitman arm to help make the steering a little less scary.

The 606 with 400hp pump and HX35 is putting some serious power out! I've had a lot of trouble finding a clutch that will handle it. I tried the Larkspeed drivetorque stage 3 clutch from the UK that can be found on ebay and claims to fit a 711.116 transmission, but pressure plate was too large and bolt pattern didn't match flywheel - having a blast trying to get a refund. I ended up getting a new factory pressure plate and clutch. I even cryo treated the pressure plate and it's still wanting to drive through the clutch. I will be working on getting a clutch made for this but it's driveable for now.

I've built several vehicles and this has been by far the most difficult as far as finding parts, but totally worth it - this truck looks amazing and sounds insane. Hoping to make the 1,000s of 4 door wrangler drivers around here shit their pants!

Intriguing arrangement of the coolers.
I see super thick double pass radiator above a rather small intercooler (300-400hp diesels are using intercoolers larger than that radiator).
Do you have an EGT gauge?

Is there an oil cooler somewhere in there too?

What factory clutch/FW did you use? Factory for that iron box transmission?

That G definitely will make some of those Jeep folks wonder.

It is my opinion that the top hose needs much more flex to deal with motor movement.

I will recommend swapping your gear ratio to 4.11, with that amount of torque your rpms will be really high at higher speeds.

Awesome looking G. Where are you located? 4 door wranglers are a dime a dozen in NC. And most only make it to the mall and you ask them about wheeling and they are like, I would never take this off road. Head shaker for sure.

Nice! That's one big snail you got! What are you running for fresh air filter? Cone? Or are you planning a box of some sort?
