2011 G55 Trail Build

I've been wanting a G for 20 years now, the time finally felt right and I'm going to dive right in with building it up for the trail.

Here is what I am starting with, 2011 G55, 26k miles, in pretty great shape with the exception of non-functioning lockers.

Too much chrome for my taste, time to pull a few of the bits off. I mean chrome skid plate, wtf?

This is better to my eye.

Oh no, this is one of those forums that doesn't play well with ios devices. Shoot, that might just stop this build thread in it's tracks. Is there any way for me to rotate the picture after uploading it?

Not after. But before, you can edit and crop the picture, even if only slightly, then save and post.

I'll try to remember to do that. I expect I'll forget >70% of the time sadly. Will try posting through imgur next, they can handle rotation properly so that should work too.

You could always get that nudgebar powder coated black?

I might blackout the grill but I prefer the look of the front end without the bar. I will be putting a steel front bumper on though.

The bar wasn't mounted correctly, it was off center and rubbed the paint off of the right side headlight surround so I need to get that fixed too.

My brush guard is the same way, 1/2" off, but towards the passenger side, so it is super close to rubbing the driver side by the headlight.

Since you'll be removing and replacing the bumper and probably adding skid plates, it doesn't matter much anymore. And weight savings!

Have you decided which steel bumpers to go with?

Nudge/Brush/etc bars are cosmetic and useless off road. They will bend and smash your fenders. Virtually no protection.
Glad you removed them.
On the AZLRO website, "Koly" has a G500 (?) that he uses off road and he would be a good source of ideas without mindless accessory buying (and how do I know that with such certainty  )
