Results of my search so far: (May not be Exact quotations, but pretty close):
My Local Farmers with whom I have many policies: "no VIN number found, and no car fax report so we will not consider further". Period.
Seattle AAA: "these vin numbers are not recognized, so send us proof the vehicle exists. Are you sure it's not a Mercedes G230?" Immediately followed by "we can't find info on a Mercedes G230". then: "Send us picture to prove they have seats" - no kidding. Then: What is my occupation, miles to commute to work, birthday, highest level of education, send us a photo copy of your driver's license, and the current certificate of title, then "we'll review it"-- and these guys insured my Pinzgauer 4 years ago.
Hagerty: "Give us the name, address, drivers license number, and primary vehicle of every one who might ever have access (spouse, and each child -even if not a dependent who live nearby), it must be stored in a locked garage with alarm, and oh, don't recognize the VIN numbers.-- computer response.
Farmers in Oregon: "Takes a few steps, but we've insured them before. Send us the VIN number or certificate of title and we'll see what we can do."- and quite earnest in trying to help.
Obviously slow, but progress is being made....
