This guy said his was 'cracked cylinder'. Maybe head or piston? But the compression variance is a major indicator not to be ignored.

What happens when you crack the #1 fuel line to the injector? Does the sound stop or change? I assume you have a verified valve adjustment - without this your compression numbers could be falsely low.

Great question when you allow the #1 to leak, the knock lessens, but still is active. This is what led us to the pump question. Plenty of pressure on 2-5, not so much on #1. As of Friday, the IP is off, should have the spare IP swapped on in the next few days.

As a side note I am now :? going down the rabbit hole of looking @ nearby, low milage, 300Ds.

Has anyone tried the veggie cleanse procedure from MercedeSource on the youtube?

So, did you verify the valve clearances? Please do. Low compression can be quite alarming but easily remedied if the valves are set too tight.

Yes. Checked and double-checked.

I went down the rabbit hole and bought three of them sequentially. Based on my experience, low miles and cheap were not as important as maintained. I did the diesel purge with liqui moly. Not much change. It could be helpful to you on off chance it gets rid of your noise, it really makes it run quiet while the purge is running thru, and if your injector/fuel system is a problem that could be a clue. I read that you swapped injectors and no change tho. Running veg might mess up alot of your hoses and seals and give you a new set of problems

And ask vadim, but you may want to expand your search to include 98/99 e class turbo diesels with the 606a. Thats a badass motor, here is an example by me, there are a few things to look out for one is glow plug change, vadim will know more:

Back to the cleanse topic, I have been binge-watching this guy's youtube content, looks pretty great, here is the link to the Veggie Cleanse (love the name) just curious if anyone had tried it?

https://youtu.be/cyXz7KaXfao The instructions call for a (2) hour Italian tune-up afterwords.

Everything else this guy posts about looks legit

Kent is well loved on this and most MB forums. The nicest guy and his content is helpful to many. Give the cleanse a try - it can't hurt anything.

Purge

Depends on your goals. For stuck rings i think fresh full synthetic oil and really hard italian tuneup is the ticket. Worked on my g500 and my 300d, my 83 300d does not use lose or drip any fluids at the moment. It used to mark its territory everywhere it went. For the IP the liqui moly stuff seems pretty good.
