Center locking diff transfer case diaphragm

Hi guys, My diffs are not locking. I have tried on dirt roads at low speed making wide turns and nothing. I can hear the pump running, but the center lock will not engage. I have a new diaphragm to install but could use a little help on the procedure. I have read you need a "special puller"? what is it pulling? also does anyone know the socket size to get the electric switch sensor thing off, located in the center of the diaphragm housing? I am guessing 27mm or 28mm deep socket? I will have to go out and buy one would be nice to confirm the size.

thanks a ton,
Joel

27mm, yes you can’t remove the front driveshaft yoke to replace the diaphragm without the special puller.
Generic 2 or 3 arm puller may damage/distort the $300 yoke so proceed with caution.

Thanks Chris,
Does anyone know where to get this “special puller” or have a part number? I would like to do this job my self as it seems pretty straightforward with the right tools. Otherwise I guess I am off to the stealership.

Not sure if this is the right one (would need a VIN and more info) but I found this browsing, maybe Chris can say if it's the correct tool or not?

Yes, that’s the puller, that other tool is also needed now that I think about it.

$230 in tools.

Ok I am a little lost, still looking to replace the diaphragm in TC (part 23 in photo) looks easy as can be. I can get the 6 bolts off no problem. But part 50 seems to be a 9 sided bolt and about 27mm. I thought it was 27 or 28mm 6 sided socket but not the case. How do I remove part 50? Is this where the “special puller” is used? I assume it’s the switch that tells the computer that the center diff is locked.
Let me know what you guys think.

Not as easy as it looks. One of the shaft flanges has to come off in order to get the cover off. It looks like it might clear, buy it won't. I did not use the special puller, in fact the flange came off relatively easy. Make sure you mark the flange position on the shaft.
