Yes , funny. Think it means eletronic really doesnt change that much . Ecu only controls warm up and deceleration via electrohidraulic actuator ( a solenoid ) that is available at bosch and as i read at foruns is not an usual source of trouble . Anyway if you disconect electrohidraulic actuator and warm up inector , things will work almost the same. At cold climates you can use foot injector.
The big trouble is the distributor it self and stuck diaphragmas . There are many kits at the market to rebuild it , dont know if i am able to do this kind of soft job. It looks like easy at youtube
Anyway what i understood is that you disconnect temp sensor , air sensor and electrohidraulic actuator ECU will assume values storaged at the kind of chip that stays near the relays under passenger feet.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQlKj-f2fMU
