SOLD: 2011 G550 with w460/461 front clip

No affiliation but I saw this and thought I was looking at a w460 from the pictures!

Really cool mod I think! The 460's looks with the more contemporary performance and interior

A set of 16" steel wheels in silver would really finish the retro look

I am pretty sure Mastadon built this car. It was on their website early last year as a build.

The plastic fairing below the 463 headlight surround can be removed pretty easily. The flat front of the 463 fender is then easily modified to fit the 460 headlight surrounds and this allows the metal grill to fit as well. I did not put all this together until I first saw this car posted. The biggest downside is that the area where that plastic body fairing goes leaves some good sized holes and a step off in the fender, so it is not perfect. Looks okay from 20 feet away, but my own G is a "30 footer" right now so I am not one to talk.

It is a better or easier solution than the cluster required to make two 460 fenders work on a G550/500.

I imagine it would be easy to 3D print a couple of plastic plugs to cover up those holes. I had a thought about removing the headlight surrounds, grill and flairs on the 463 then plastidipping them black to achieve a similar look to the 460. Using plastidip, it'd be removable if I didn't like it.

It's funny in one photo the drivers side does not have these holes. and in another photo it does. MMMMM

It’s way easier to just photoshop pics, virtual reality is becoming more and more ‘real’ every day. Eventually we’ll all be doing this.

I wouldn't touch anything that came from Mastadon. My brother was burnt very badly on a 300GD LWB that he sourced thru them. Anyone considering doing business with them feel free to PM me and Id be glad to tell you about his experience..

His ad text should read;
Hey guys, I bought this truck from mastodon and drove it for 5000 miles, it vibrates so bad the wife won’t ride in it anymore...

First post here, although I have gained a lot of information over the year from the forum. My background is primarily in restoring and enjoying Rovers from Series 1 through Defenders.

That is my truck.

Few Points:
-As for the 4 front bolt holes below the reflectors, 2 per side, I have fastened two solutions: 1) stainless washers, cut to fit, powder coated black, and easily attached leaving 4 black covers with stainless bolts in the centers vs white plastic 3d printed rectangular plate, one per side that bolts through. I did not intend to insert my photoshopped mockup in the auction that removed these holes, as clearly I did not hide them on any other photo. I had made that edited photo when consulting with a local 3d print shop. Original updated in ad.

-The truck handles incredibly smoothly on the KM2 around town and on the highway. I have not owned a G550 previously to compare to bone stock. No complaints from the wife, who daily drives a D110. I am comparing it to a 2013 Rubicon Unlimited on KM2 and a D90 built to accomidate 315/75r16 Duratracs. Anyone in the Boston area is welcome to swing by just to look at the truck, take it for a ride, and talk shop.

-I am in no way connected to Mastodon. Tim royally screwed us over on a 240gd LWB soft top. Luckily for this truck, he did very little besides the w461 front clip, the suspension and springs, steel bumpers, ladder and rack, and the 16" black wheels on what was a previously stock 2011 G550. More to say about Tim, but I am awaiting a decision on a large credit card chargeback first.

-Only reason for the sale is to make room for another incoming G.
